The New America Foundation is now accepting intern applications for Spring 2014. The internship positions are open to interested undergraduates, recent college graduates, and graduate students. Interns are expected to work 10-20 hours per week, with flexible scheduling. Ideal candidates will gain experience working in one of New America’s public policy programs. In order to maximize your time at New America, your cover letter should detail what you want to gain from an internship at the New America Foundation.
New America interns will participate in a variety of projects and engage directly with program staff, directors, and fellows. Responsibilities include but are not limited to primary and secondary research, editing and writing reports and blog posts, assisting with program website maintenance and social media, supporting planning and execution of public and private events, and minor administrative tasks as needed. For more specific internship descriptions, please see the internship opportunities posted.
To apply, please send your cover letter, resume, transcript (unofficial is acceptable), and a writing sample (no more than three pages) to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please put your name and the specific position for which you are applying in the subject line.
Spring internship term: January 6 through May 9 (dates flexible). Unless otherwise noted, all positions are based in Washington, DC.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
