Podcast Commentary: Financial Reform and the Essential Role of Consumer Protection

In the future, access to certain financial services should be treated as a public good with large benefits for society as a whole. We need to take steps to protect it, just like we protect the air we breathe and the food we eat. That is where the Consumer Financial Protection Agency comes in. It has the potential to provide a new foundation for a remade banking system that more effectively matches consumers with appropriate savings and credit products.
