The New America Foundation's Open Technology Initiative seeks a Technologist to join
our team in Washington, D.C., building a new device-as-infrastructure communications
tool for democratic organizing, civil society, and free speech in the 21st century (http://commotionwireless.net). The right candidate has at least 3+ years of professional programming experience, with preference given to those with experience developing for embedded Linux platforms. A thorough understanding of wireless networking technology and IP networking and routing is a must. Experience with dynamic web interface development, embedded Linux development, GSM networks, Lua, Python, and radio engineering principles are also desired. Strong preference will be given to developers who are already experienced with open-source community wireless networks and/or open-source mobile development.
